Developing Bluetooth applications on Mac OS X

Edd Dumbill looks to be doing the hard work to get Bluetooth working well with GNOME. More interesting is the type of application that he's building on top of the framework.

Mac OS X should have all of the basic stuff covered and Address Book has integration with the Bluetooth stack similar to that provided by GNOME Phone Manager. But what about writing layered applications on top? Is there a set of bindings between the Apple Bluetooth stack and (say) Python? It would be good to avoid learning Objective C just for this.
