Gmail -- real or fake?
Given the date, it's not clear whether Gmail, a new webmail service from Google, is real. April the first would certainly seem like a strange day to decide to launch a new service - particularly one that is slightly at odds with an existing portfolio.
But then, maybe Google are taking advantage of the fact that people aren't sure whether it's real. Maybe they are considering the service as described and are interested in feedback on whether it would be used, successful, etc. If the reception is good, they launch. If the reception is bad, the claim it's an April 1st joke. Seems like a risky approach if it's true (which I doubt, but hey...).
Update: It seems to be real.
