Getting neat Solaris stuff

Posted on May 4, 2004

There’s been a bunch of chat resulting from the Infoworld interview with Jonathan Schwartz where he discusses the possibility of “GPLing” (is that allowed to be a verb?) Solaris. Scanning the Slashdot thread about the story was the usual tale: some interesting comments, lots of un-informed assertions and an appalling amount of nonsense.

Wes Felter wondered about the license, but does seem interested:

I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on Zones or ZFS.

Of course, he can get early access to new Solaris features through Solaris Express (Zones is included in the current Solaris Express release, though ZFS is not).
