Microsoft vs. Sergio Amadeu
Simon has some links to information about the news that Microsoft Brazil is taking action against the Brazilian government’s IT advisor. Go read for the details.
What is the purpose of the action? Will Microsoft actually come out better in some way if they are successful in pursuing Sergio Amadeu? If they lose the case then I’d guess it may become some kind of precedent to allow us to use similar terminology, real-world precedent if not legal. If Microsoft win the case and the comments have to be retracted, what then? Perhaps Sergio Amadeu will be forced to resign and Microsoft imagine that this will ease their path into the IT systems of Brazil, but it may also cause an even larger wave of resistance.
I’m puzzled - I don’t understand what Microsoft expects to gain.
