films

For some reason I seem to have watched more films than usual on television in the last two weeks. Mostly it’s a result of being too lazy to walk upstairs to sleep, so I sit vacuously in front of the television and channel surf to find something plausible.

Broadcast News was very enjoyable, though Holly Hunter is quite a bit shorter than I’d realised. Behind Enemy Lines was somewhat boring and predictable. Most annoying was the fact that someone who was supposedly a navigator (Owen Wilson) was routed in a large circle by his commanders and only noticed this when he started to see familiar landmarks. Doesn’t bode well for the US Navy’s ability to find it’s way around.

Hannibal was mostly okay, though it’s a shame that Julianne Moore replaced Jodie Foster as Clarice Starling. The real tragedy of the film though was the modified ending. The book was much better.
