In-car PDAs

Whilst driving along the M25 today, I again noticed a lot of people with PDAs stuck to the dashboard of their cars. They might have been Pocket PC phones rather than PDAs, but were not “dedicated” route finders or GPS systems. What are all of these people using their PDA for when driving?
