Hog Heaven
Yesterday I went through the tortuous process of upgrading from Ubuntu Warty to Hoary.
Actually, it was incredibly straight-forward. Two minutes of fiddling, twenty minutes to download about half a gigabyte of updates and then reboot. My only disappointment is that my Hauppauge Nova-T DVB card doesn’t work with the standard Ubuntu 2.6.10 kernel. The card is recognised properly, but some patches to make it sing are missing.
Evolution 2.2 feels very smooth, perhaps even enough to wean me away from Thunderbird and Mail.app. Gnome 2.10 works as I would expect, including drag-and-drop DVD burning, OpenOffice, etc.
Overall, a painless upgrade and some worthwhile improvements.
