Petrol Shortage?

Posted on Sep 13, 2005

Whilst driving around the last few days, I’ve seen lots of queues at petrol stations. The first time it seemed like a one-off, but there are more and more. A BP station that I passed this morning on the way to GMP actually had a sign outside: No Unleaded.

After the damage caused by Katrina it seemed to me that a quick hike in petrol prices at the pump was nothing more than profiteering. Is that wrong? Is there a serious risk that we’ll run out of unleaded?

Update: The local Tesco petrol station is completely gridlocked with queues extending into the car park. They have a sign saying No Diesel.
